Meet Justin Amos

Justin Amos is the founder and featured educator of The Mind of Christ. He is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) in the state of Missouri (USA). Justin served as a pastor in full-time ministry for 14 years and has a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Irvine.

Growing up in church and attending a private Christian school, Justin found himself struggling with his mental health from a very young age, battling bizarre, tormenting, and parylizing thoughts. After having a complete mental breakdown while working as a pastor in March of 2019, Justin was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Since that day, Justin has been on a journey to learn everything he can about mental health, not just for himself, but to help others who are hurting. Justin is living proof of Pastor Rick Warren's words: "Your greatest ministry will likely come from your deepest pain." Nothing has caused Justin more pain than living with mental health challenges, but he's using his lived experience and training to help fellow Christians who are struggling. When he's not helping others with their mental health, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, playing drums, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and eating delicious food.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

God's Word

• We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, the final authority for faith and practice.

Human Dignity and Worth

• Every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent worth, value, and dignity, regardless of background, behavior, or mental health struggles.

Integration of Faith and Science

• Psychological science and Christian faith are complementary, and when ethically integrated, they provide a holistic approach to mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The Fallen State

• Brokenness, suffering, and mental health struggles are a part of the human experience in a fallen world, but they do not define a person's ultimate identity.

Healing is Multidimensional

• True healing involves the mind, body, emotions, relationships, and spirit. Mental health support should address the whole person, not just symptoms.

The Role of Community

• We believe that Christians are called to live in relationship with God and others. Active involvement in a church community strengthens faith, while also providing support and belonging that contribute to healthy mental and emotional well-being.

Responsibility

• Each person is responsible for their own healing. Our healing is also never just for us, it is also for the flourishing of others.
